Hearthlight · Legal
Terms and Conditions
1. Operator and scope
These terms govern use of Hearthlight’s website and dashboard from the effective date above. Review them before using the service. They do not claim that an existing user accepted new terms before having an opportunity to review them. Use the service only if you can lawfully agree to these terms; otherwise stop using it.

2. The service
Hearthlight provides a free dashboard interface for a user’s Home Assistant setup. Home Assistant is required for connected-device controls. Users may connect locations, operate supported devices and use available weather, wall-mode and voice features.
Hearthlight is independent of Home Assistant and Nabu Casa. Hardware and optional third-party subscriptions or personal AI usage are separate from the free dashboard.
3. Account responsibilities
Connect only installations and devices you are authorized to control, protect your Google account and API credentials, and review commands before confirming routines. You are responsible for the connections and commands you authorize.
A signed-in shared tablet can control connected devices. Sign out before lending, selling or relinquishing a device, and use care when placing a wall display or sharing access. The service is not intended for children who cannot lawfully consent to account creation and connected-device use.
4. Connected-device safety
Device behavior depends on your Home Assistant installation, integrations, network and hardware. Browser voice support, fullscreen and wake behavior vary by device. Hearthlight is not a substitute for emergency services, life-safety equipment, medical systems or professional supervision.
Verify important device states directly. Do not rely on voice interpretation or automated routines for safety-critical actions. AI interpretation can be wrong, and displayed device states may be delayed. You remain responsible for testing and supervising automations in Home Assistant.
5. Third-party services and costs
Google, Home Assistant, hosting and any connected AI providers have their own terms and privacy practices. Hardware, connectivity and third-party subscriptions are not included. Personal Claude and Deepgram API usage is billed by the provider to your account; consumer chat subscriptions may not include API usage.
Deepgram handles listening and spoken replies using your personal API key, with usage billed to your Deepgram account. Without that connection, replies are text only. Review provider charges and spending limits before connecting keys. Availability of free voice features, integrations and supported devices is not guaranteed, and this service does not promise unlimited third-party usage.
6. Acceptable use and service access
Do not access another person’s devices or information without authorization, attempt to obtain credentials, bypass account protections, interfere with the service or use it unlawfully. Do not use the dashboard to collect sensitive patient or other regulated information.
Access may be restricted to protect users, investigate misuse or meet legal obligations. You may stop using Hearthlight at any time, remove connections in Settings and request account deletion by email. Contact the operator about an access restriction or account issue.
7. Ownership, availability and limitations
You retain your rights in content and information you provide and authorize the processing necessary to supply the features you request. Hearthlight’s branding and original site content remain the rights of their respective owners. Third-party software and marks remain subject to their own licenses; use of the dashboard does not transfer ownership.
The service is provided as available. To the extent permitted by law, no warranty is made that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose. Features may change or be discontinued. We will identify material changes to these terms on this page and update the effective date.
To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses caused by service interruptions, third-party failures or device actions outside the operator’s control. Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, or removes mandatory consumer rights. No fixed liability cap or mandatory arbitration requirement is imposed by these terms.
8. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of New York, United States, subject to applicable federal law and any mandatory rights under the law where you live. This does not require you to give up a court or remedy that applicable law makes available.
For questions or disputes, contact Faisal Rafiq so we can attempt to resolve the issue. See the Privacy Policy for how account and connected-feature information is handled.
